Vinny the Pooh Media Page
Vinny the Pooh is the brainchild of Christine Kruze, artistic director of Indianapolis-based Approxima Productions. It combines classic characters from the famous Winnie the Pooh stories with mafia archetypes from properties like The Sopranos, Goodfellas, and Casino.
Although this story is completely standalone, fans of Winnie the Pooh and "mob movies" will be treated to subtle (and not-so-subtle) nods to the referenced works.
This is the third full production by the young theatre company, and will appear as part of the 2019 IndyFringe Festival. While this is Approxima's first entry in the festival, they've recruited several experienced IndyFringe performers to bring this tale to the stage.
Veteran Fringe performers John Kern (Autumn Takes a Tumble, Haul & Oatz: Time Traveling Detectives), Clay Mabbitt (Autumn Takes a Tumble, 465: Sex Drive) and Kelsey VanVoorst (Autumn Takes a Tumble, Drankspeare) bring their talents to this Approxima production. The cast is rounded out by notable local talents Steve Kruze, Morgan Morton, Josh Ramsey, and Carrie Schlatter.
Behind the scenes they are joined by John Goodson (fight choreography), David Schlatter (special effects), and Jennifer Sutton (stage manager).
